As Cyclone 'Sitrang' is approaching the coast at a fast speed, the Directorate of Meteorology has informed the Chittagong port of distress signal number 6. As a result, all activities at Chittagong Port have been closed.

He also said that all preparations have been made by the port to deal with the cyclone.

According to Chittagong port control room sources, all kinds of work are stopped in Chittagong port. Vessels at outer anchorage have been instructed to move to safe harbor. All ships in the jetty were evacuated.
