Pakistan's renowned scholar Mufti Rafi Usmani passed away after a long illness. (Innalillahe Wainna Ilaihe Rajeun). He was 86 years old
Mufti Rafi Usmani breathed his last on Friday, confirmed by his younger brother Mufti Taqi Usmani, another renowned scholar of Pakistan.
In a tweet, Mufti Taqi Usmani said, May Allah shower his mercy on him. My elder brother and a great personality of the Islamic world, Grand Mufti Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani (RA) has passed away. The funeral prayers of the deceased will be held on Sunday (November 20) at the premises of Darul Uloom Karachi.

The President of Pakistan expressed deep grief over the death of Rafi Usmani. Important people including Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
In a tweet, the President said, 'Mufti Rafi Usmani has made an unforgettable contribution to the spread of Islamic education. He has valuable services in religious and academic matters. I pray to Almighty Allah for him the highest status of Paradise.
It should be noted that Rafi Usmani was the head of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi. He is the son of the famous Chief Mufti of Pakistan, Mufti Muhammad Shafi.
His younger brother Mufti Taqi Usmani is a former judge of the Shariat Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Mufti Rafi Usmani was born on July 21, 1936 in the Deoband region of Hindustan.
He was a religious scholar, jurist and writer. His father, Mufti Shafi R.H., taught him his education. He was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband, University of the Punjab and Darul Uloom Karachi.
Mufti Rafi Usmani wrote many books including Ahkam-i-Zakat, Al-Taliqat Al-Nafiyyah Ala Fatah Al Mulhim, Islam May Awrat Ki Hukmrani and Nawadir Al-Fiqh.
Recognized for his knowledge in Fiqh, Hadith and Tafsir, Mufti Rafi Usmani authored numerous books in Urdu as well as notable works in Arabic.
He was a member of the Executive Council of Madrasa Education Board Befaqul Madaris Al-Arabiya. He was a syndicate member of NED University of Engineering and Technology and University of Karachi.
