Singer Akbar passed away

Musician Akbar is no more. He died at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital in the capital on Sunday (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). His wife Kaniz Fatema confirmed the news of Akbar's death. Akbar was 54 years old.

Akbar was suffering from various physical problems for a long time and was undergoing treatment. He was suffering from diabetes. Jaundice had settled in the body for two years. Apart from this, there were various physical complications including kidney problems, inflammation of the blood. He was bedridden since last January. Akbar's two kidneys were damaged due to accumulation of water in his body and his right leg was damaged. That leg was amputated last October. His kidney and liver problems increased after his leg was amputated.

Akbar was supposed to be taken to India for this. Before this, Akbar was suffering from kidney disease and was treated several times in the country and abroad. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated Tk 20 lakh for his treatment. But he left after failing all efforts.


Kishore Kumar's 'Ekdin Pakhi Ude' was sung anew by Akbar Ali Ghazi. He is known as Akbar to everyone. The song brought him into discussion on Hanif Sanket's popular magazine show 'Etiyadi'. After that, the song 'Tomar Hatapakhar Bata Se' made him known to the audience and listeners of the country and abroad. Before this he used to sing in various stage shows in Jessore.

Akbar drove a rickshaw in Jessore before becoming known as a singer. Although Akbar was born in Paikgacha, Khulna, he grew up in Jessore.

 In 2003, Akbar sang in a function of Jessore MM College. A man from Bagerhat was impressed by Akbar's music. He wrote letters about Akbar in the magazine program 'Ettadi'. Then the 'etc' authorities contacted Akbar. Akbar became famous overnight by singing Kishore Kumar's song 'Ekdin Pakhi Ude' in the 'Etiyadi' program that year.
