The American technology company Corning has unveiled the new 'Gorilla Glass Victus 2' with the promise of keeping the smartphone screen intact even if it hits the concrete.
Corning's Gorilla Glass is widely used as a screen in the
flagship smartphones of top technology product manufacturers like Google and
Samsung. The company promises a more durable smartphone screen with the
new version.
This new version of Corning Gorilla Glass was unveiled at
the end of the year; It is an indication of what kind of updates might
come to the hardware of the flagship and expensive smartphones in the market in
the coming year, commented the technology site Senate.
However, Corning has not yet released detailed information
about the new Gorilla Glass.
Due to the fear of climate change and economic recession,
interest in extending the life of smartphones has increased among
buyers; In such a situation, the company showed a new version of Gorilla
Glass.
What is the main difference between the new Gorilla Glass
and the previous version? The manufacturer company says that the
smartphone screen will remain intact even if it falls on something hard like
concrete. Corning said it tested its reliability by dropping it on
concrete from a height of one meter in the laboratory.
According to this company, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 can
provide good protection even for relatively large and heavy phones.
Corning used devices that weighed 15 percent more than
conventional and larger devices to test its reliability in the lab, Senate
wrote.
Senate wrote that the new Gorilla Glass could be more useful
for foldable devices like the 'Galaxy G Fold 4'. The G Fold 4 weighs 263
grams; Compared to that, Samsung's flagship product 'Galaxy S22 Ultra'
weighs 228 grams.
Samsung is already using Corning's 'Gorilla Glass Victus
Plus' for the screen and back glass cover of the 'Galaxy G Fold 4'.
Corning typically releases new versions of its products every 18 to 24 months. However, the new glass comes at a time when users want the device to last longer. This indicates increasing consumer interest in relatively durable products, the Senate wrote in the report.
