A total of 15 people died after the destruction of Ganesh idol

 At least 15 people drowned in five separate incidents in India's Uttar Pradesh and Haryana while worshiping Ganesha idols. Six people drowned during the immersion of Ganesha idols in Haryana's Mahendragarh and Sonipat districts on Friday evening. Meanwhile, a total of 9 people have died in multiple incidents in Uttar Pradesh.

Four youths drowned in a canal in Mahendragarh and two youths drowned in the Yamuna river in Sonipat. In Mahendragarh, the district administration started a rescue operation with the help of NDRF when the youth drowned. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took to Twitter to express grief over the incident in Mahendragarh and Sonepat districts. He tweeted, 'We all stand by the families of the deceased in this difficult time. NDRF teams have saved many people from drowning. I pray for their speedy recovery.'

Meanwhile, it is reported that 9 people have died during Ganesh Visharjan in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. Three died in Unnao, four in Sant Kabir Nagar, two in Lalitpur. Two children drowned in Unnao incident. Another child died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. A total of three children died in this incident.

The second incident is from Sant Kabir Nagar. 4 children drowned in the river here. Later, the bodies of four children were recovered with the help of divers. Two youths drowned in a pond during Ganesh idol immersion in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur. According to various Indian media reports, a Muslim youth who jumped into the pond to save the youth also died.
