The policeman in the Tip case said that he is innocent

Police constable Nazmul Tarek, who lost his job after allegedly harassing a woman for wearing a tip, has pleaded not guilty. He said, 'I am a victim. I was working. I could not speak for this. Action has been taken against me without any evidence in the incident.'

Constable Nazmul also said that he has been protesting against the incident for a long time in front of the National Press Club. Apart from the investigating officer of the incident, he demanded the punishment of the complainant Lata Samdar.

Nazmul Tarek said these things in a press conference in the presence of his wife and children at Dhaka Reporters Unity today.

At the beginning of last April, Lata Samaddar, a lecturer of Tejgaon College in the capital's Farmgate, complained against policeman Nazmul of being harassed for wearing a tip. Later he was identified and suspended from the job. Then he was fired last month.

He was working in Protection Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
This former policeman said, 'I apologize to the countrymen for driving the motorcycle in the opposite direction on the road. On that day the complainant was accidentally hit by a bike. When I apologized to him and wanted to leave, he grabbed the shoulder of my uniform and threw it away. The tip-off has been arranged to cover up this incident.'

Nazmul complained that the trial was conducted without observing the CCTV footage at the scene. Officials in charge gave fabricated reports. He is innocent. Because, they could not show clear information and evidence. Being a lowly worker, he could not speak. He added, 'I have been tried to be radicalized because of my job opportunity and my beard and hat.'

The dismissed policeman said, 'I am not an alien. I saw the tip first, not that I would question him about the tip. Did he really want to create a communal issue in a planned way? I have broken the traffic law, I can be prosecuted under the traffic law. But the job can't go away.'

Nazmul claimed that a member of Parliament had spoken about this incident without knowing it, and said that he should also apologize.

In the press conference, Nazmul's wife Maisha Akhter said, 'No eating, no drinking. We stayed at the press club day after day. If my husband is a criminal. May he be punished to the maximum. But without revealing the truth, our family of seven-eight people has been put on the road. We want the truth to come out. Let the CCTV footage of the spot be released.'
