There have been reports of an assassination attempt on
Russian President Vladimir Putin. A Spain-based Euro Weekly News said on
Thursday that this news was spread on a telegram channel called General GVR on
Wednesday. However, it is not known when the attempted murder took place.
Rumors that Putin is ill and that his life is in danger have
spread repeatedly since Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine on
February 24. However, Putin himself admitted this before. In 2017, Putin
publicly stated that he had been assassinated at least five times.
According to the Telegram channel, which reported on Putin's
assassination attempt, the limousine in which Putin rides was hit hard on the
left front wheel, Euro Weekly said. Smoke started to fly from the car. However,
the car was immediately taken to a safe place.
However, the president of Russia was not physically harmed
in this assassination attempt. According to Euro Weekly, several people have
been arrested after the incident. Australian website News.com and some other
media reports also reported that Putin was the victim of the incident on his
way back to the official residence with a convoy amid security concerns.
The telegram channel later updated the information and said,
'An ambulance blocked the path of the first car of Putin's motorcade just a few
kilometers away on the way back to the residence. The car in front stopped
suddenly and the car behind started to circle around without stopping.'
The incident came a week before a group of politicians in
St. Petersburg called on the country's parliament, the State Duma, to impeach
Putin and charge him with treason. Russia's military losses in the Ukraine war
and the country's economic losses due to Western sanctions due to the war are
said to be the reasons for this. These politicians complain that Russia has
suffered such a loss because of President Putin.
