The United States is giving another $600 million in military aid to Ukraine
Counterattacks by Ukrainian forces against Russian forces intensified. In this situation, the White House has approved another 600 million USD military aid package for Ukraine.
The aid was approved by the Biden administration on Thursday local time. This support includes provision of military equipment, services and training.
According to a statement from the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, this military aid for Ukraine includes 37,000 artillery shells. A thousand of them are able to hit the perfect target. Apart from this, defense radars and other weapons and military equipment will also be given to Ukraine.
Ukraine is being given more ammunition for US-supplied Himmers rockets, the Pentagon says. However, it was not made clear whether the long-range ATACMS missile, which Kiev has long demanded, is included in the support.
Washington has provided more than $1.5 billion in military aid to Kiev since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine last February.
The Guardian reports that the United States is rapidly providing weapons to bolster Kiev's successful counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine. The weapons that Kiev's forces used last month to gain success in the country's east and south are being given more of them this time.
US President Joe Biden has authorized new military aid to Ukraine under his special powers. The White House says that this is the 21st time that the US Department of Defense is going to give weapons and equipment to Ukraine from the US arsenal.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said, 'With admirable tenacity and determination, the people of Ukraine are fighting for their homeland and future.
Our support will make a difference on the battlefield. When the time comes, Ukraine's hand at the negotiating table will be strengthened.'
Earlier last week, the United States announced $2.9 billion in economic aid to Ukraine. Earlier, Washington gave 3 billion US dollars in aid to Ukraine last August. In the past few days, Ukrainian forces have managed to liberate almost all of Kharkiv. Moscow has admitted to withdrawing from the area.
