Import of Rolls Royce: Tk 56 crore fine to that importing company

 

Chittagong Customs House has fined 56 crore taka to the importing company Z & Z Intimates in connection with the removal of luxury Rolls Royce cars imported through Chittagong port without customs clearance. The fine was ordered on October 12.

 According to the order signed by the Customs Commissioner of Chittagong Mohammad Faizur Rahman on October 12, as the violation of Sections 9, 10, 16, 18, 80 and 111 of the Customs Act 1969 and 'smuggling' under Section 2(S) and the crime described in Section 32(1) were proved. Z & Z Intimates was fined Tk 564 million. 

According to the order, the consignment has been classified in the appropriate HS code and the customs duty applicable to the consignment at the appropriate price, and the fine imposed has been ordered to be released to the importer.

Besides, the order ordered payment of customs duties, fines imposed and liquidation penalty within 30 working days.

Chittagong Customs Commissioner was called to inquire about this but did not receive the call.

It is learned that Z&Z Intimates will not get duty-free benefits even if it applies as an export-oriented company. As a result, apart from the fine, they will have to pay about 24 crores as duty.

On July 6, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized the luxury Rolls Royce car worth Tk 27 crore from Baridhara area of ​​the capital.

According to customs documents, the car was imported from UK's Vertex Auto Limited on May 17 by Z & Z Intimates Limited, a company jointly owned by Bangladesh's Anant Group and a Hong Kong citizen.
