Import of Rolls Royce: Tk 56 crore fine to that importing company
Chittagong Customs House
has fined 56 crore taka to the importing company Z & Z Intimates in
connection with the removal of luxury Rolls Royce cars imported through
Chittagong port without customs clearance. The fine was ordered on October 12.
According to the order,
the consignment has been classified in the appropriate HS code and the customs
duty applicable to the consignment at the appropriate price, and the fine
imposed has been ordered to be released to the importer.
Besides, the order ordered payment of customs duties, fines imposed and liquidation penalty within 30 working days.
Chittagong Customs Commissioner was called to inquire about this but did not receive the call.
It is learned that Z&Z Intimates will not get duty-free benefits even if it applies as an export-oriented company. As a result, apart from the fine, they will have to pay about 24 crores as duty.
On July 6, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized the luxury Rolls Royce car worth Tk 27 crore from Baridhara area of the capital.
According to customs documents, the car was imported from UK's Vertex Auto Limited on May 17 by Z & Z Intimates Limited, a company jointly owned by Bangladesh's Anant Group and a Hong Kong citizen.
