Nobel Prize in Physics for the study of quantum mechanics
Three researchers have won the Nobel Prize in Physics
this year in recognition of their 'groundbreaking' research into quantum
mechanics involving entangled photon particles.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Tuesday announced the names of Alain Aspect of France, John F Clauser of the United States and Anton Zellinger of Austria for the award.
These three scientists will equally share one million Swedish kroner of the Nobel Prize.
Tsukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics last year for their research into how this worldview operates under complex rules, how human activities disrupt the physical laws of the Earth's climate.
Three Nobel laureates in physics this year focused on
research into 'entangled quantum states', where two photon particles behave as
a unit, even though they are separated from each other.
The research of this year's Nobel laureates has opened the
door to new technologies based on quantum information science.
"Quantum information science is a vibrant and rapidly
growing field of research" -- commented Eva Olson, member of the Nobel
Committee for Physics.
"It has the potential to have a large-scale impact in
areas such as information transfer security, quantum computing and sensing
technology," he added.
Alain Aspect, a 75-year-old French citizen, works with the
University of Paris-Saclay and Ecole Polytechnique in France. John F
Clauser, a 79-year-old citizen of the United States, runs his own company in
California. And 77-year-old Zelinger works for the University of Vienna.
As usual, this year's Nobel season began on Monday with the announcement of the Medicines Prize. Svante Pabo, a Swedish scientist who shed light on an unknown chapter of human evolution through gene research, has won the Nobel Prize in medicine.
After the announcement of this year's Nobel winners in Chemistry on Wednesday, the Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced on Thursday. Then on Friday, the names of this year's Nobel laureates in peace and economics will be announced on October 19.
The Nobel Prize will be handed over to the winners at a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this ceremony was done through a virtual ceremony for the last two years.
