The 28 crore project did not see the light of day

The spectacular natural spring is Khayachara of Mirsarai. Every day thousands of visitors come to enjoy the beauty of this waterfall. However, at least 5 kilometers of the road leading to the shower is in poor condition. Broken roads somewhere, mud-water somewhere. One has to pass Baratakia Bazar on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and proceed towards the waterfall. In the beginning, there is little road carpeting, but then the whole road is full of potholes. The bad road and the slippery path of inaccessible hills have become a source of irritation for the visitors. Fahad (25), a student of Chittagong University, was wading through mud and water last Thursday. He said, there are very few places in Bangladesh with such muddy roads. But the government is now taking money with tickets to see the shower.

In this regard, Mahfuzul Haque Junu, UP Chairman of Local No. 12 Khaiachra, said that I put some sand on the road that day to reduce the mud on the road. But the night rain has increased the mud. However, soon the development of the road will be started.

According to Chittagong North Forest Department sources, a separate proposal was sent to the ministry in 2017 to make Khaiachhra waterfall tourist-oriented. However, the 28 crore project has not seen the light yet. The proposed project includes construction of car parking, afforestation of 200 hectares of cycads, 600 hectares of rare and endangered native species, plantation of fruit species and local species, construction of 5 RCC box culverts for traffic, construction of roads, construction of five toilets and washrooms, two Kilometers of electric line, acquisition of 15 decimal land, installation of 3 deep tube wells, construction of RCC boundary for security etc.

It is known that in 2013, Khayachara Jharna saw the face of promotion. After that, travelers from different parts of the country rushed to the shower. This year Khaiachara Jharna was leased for Tk 25 lakh 55 thousand. An entry fee of Tk 20 is charged from each tourist. In the last few years, crores of rupees have been earned here. But minimum arrangements have not been made for the convenience of the visitors.

Jamil Mohammad Khan, assistant conservator of forest in charge of the local range of Chittagong North Forest Division, said that the fountain project is under process. It is believed that the project has stalled due to adverse global conditions including Corona.

Upazila Engineer Roni Saha said that this road has been proposed for development. As soon as we get the grant, we will start working.
