A Bengaluru court has ordered the temporary suspension of the Indian National Congress's Twitter account. A music house has filed a suit under the Intellectual Property (Copyright) Act for playing music from the movie 'KGF-2' at the ongoing 'Bharat Joro Yatra' program led by party leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi. Then the court gave this order.

According to the report of NDTV, Naveen Kumar, the manager of music company MRT, filed a case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and three others. Allegations have been made that the use of songs from the Kannada movie Superhit has violated intellectual property laws.

The Karnataka state court also ordered the temporary suspension of the Twitter account used to promote the Bharat Joro Yatra. The manager of the music house complained that the songs of the movie 'KGF-2' were used in the promotional video of Bharat Joro Yatra.

In a tweet, the Congress said it was not aware of the court proceedings and had not received a copy of the order.

The tweet said, 'We came to know through social media about a Bengaluru court order against social media of INC (Indian National Congress) and BJY (Bharat Jodo Yatra). We were not aware of or present at the court proceedings. No copy of the order was found either. On our part, we are pursuing all legal remedies.'

The court said in the order that the music company produced a CD, which showed the original copyrighted version of the songs and the 'unlawfully appropriated' version.

The court said the evidence found it would cause "irreparable harm" to the music industry and that such actions would encourage intellectual property theft.

In the case filed at Bengaluru's Jaswantpur police station, the music house said that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted two videos of Yatra, which used popular songs from 'KGF-2' without permission.

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress started the 'Bharat Joro Yatra' from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 8. This journey will end in Srinagar, Kashmir after covering 3 thousand 570 km. So far the program has been extended to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telingana and Maharashtra.
