Today Merry Christmas


The biggest religious festival of Christians is 'Merry Christmas' today (Sunday). Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was born on December 25 in Bethlehem. Christians celebrate this day as 'Merry Christmas'.

People of the Christian community believe that Lord Jesus came to earth to lead mankind to the path of truth and justice by preaching the glory of the Creator.

Like other countries of the world, the Christians of Bangladesh will celebrate 'Merry Christmas' today with proper religious solemnity and rituals, festivity and prayers.

On this occasion, the religious institutions of Christians all over the country, including the capital Dhaka, have been decorated in a new style. Also, from Saturday evening, various churches and star-hotels have arranged for lighting decorations.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Christmas, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages wishing peace and welfare to all, including Christians.

The President said that instead of worldly happiness, Jesus Christ emphasized on attaining material happiness through sacrifice, moderation and charity. The teachings and ideals of Jesus Christ should be followed in order to establish peace in a troubled world, including establishing harmony and unity among different ethnic groups.

Referring to the fact that Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony, Abdul Hamid said that since time immemorial, people of all religions have been celebrating their respective religions and rituals freely in this country.

The Prime Minister said in his speech that the development of the people of all classes, professions and communities is the main goal of the government. To achieve this goal, his government is working to ensure a dignified and safe life for the people of all communities.

He said, 'Equality of people of all religions and castes has been guaranteed in our constitution. We believe - Religion is for everyone, festival is for everyone. The Awami League government is determined to uphold the non-communal spirit.

Star hotels in the capital have artificially placed Christmas trees and Santa Clauses inside the hotels along with Arok decorations. Special prayers will also be held in various churches this Saturday night on Christmas Eve. And the Christmas prayer will start from this morning.
