South Africa's defeat increased Bangladesh's chances of semi final's
South Africa lost by (33 runs)against Pakistan in the rain-hit Super Twelve World T20 match. This defeat of the Proteas has made the semi-final competition of group two. Although Netherlands' exit from the tournament is confirmed, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have increased chances of going to the last four.
Each team in Group 2 now has one match left. That is, if India wins the next match against Zimbabwe, they will go to the semi-finals as group champions with 8 points. If South Africa wins against the Netherlands, they will also get a ticket to the semis with 7 points. But if India and South Africa lose their respective matches, the semi-final opportunity will be created in front of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
If Zimbabwe and Bangladesh win in their respective matches, besides India, the three teams will have 6 points each. In that case, the run rate will be considered in the semi-final race. Those who will be ahead will go to the last four. In that case, Pakistan will be eliminated by losing the match, if they win against the Tigers, they will have a chance to go to the semi-finals.
Again, if India wins against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Pakistan will face semis. In that case, South Africa would have to lose to the Netherlands (which is highly unlikely). In that case Bangladesh's "points will be 6". Proteas will be eliminated with (5 points).
There is another calculation. If India lose to Zimbabwe, Sikandar Kings will have 5 points. If Shakibra defeats Pakistan again, Tigers will have 6 points. On the other hand, South Africa also lost, which means that the red and green representatives can still go to the semi-finals, leaving behind the Proteas by points.
