Soybean oil-sugar prices rose again

There is a shortage of soybean oil and sugar in the market. In such a situation, the prices of both the daily necessities increased together. The price of bottled soybean oil has increased by Tk 12 to Tk 190 per liter. And the price of packaged sugar has increased by Tk 13 to Tk 108 per kg. This new price is effective from today Thursday.

This has been confirmed by the Ministry of Commerce. It is known that Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Banaspati Manufacturers Association, the organization of owners of edible oil refining factories, officially informed the ministry of this decision to increase the price of soybean oil on Wednesday.

Similarly, Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association, the organization of owners of sugar refiners, has decided to increase the price of sugar yesterday. Before this, the leaders of both the organizations held several meetings with the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission regarding the price increase.

According to the new decision, 1 liter of bottled soybean oil will be sold at Tk 190 from today. So far this price was 178 taka. Apart from this, the price of 5 liter bottled soybean oil has increased to Tk 925. So far the price was 880 taka, that means a new increase of 45 taka. On the other hand, open soybean prices have been increased by Tk 14 per litre. The new price of open soybean oil is Tk 172 per liter. So far every liter has been sold at 158 ​​rupees. And open palm oil will be sold at Tk 121 per liter.

On the other hand, each kg of packaged sugar will be sold at Tk 108 from today. Earlier the price was 95 rupees. But quite some time ago, the price of sugar in the market has exceeded 100. There is also a shortage of sugar in the market. According to the new rate, the price of 50 kg bag of sugar will be 5 thousand 100 taka. In this case, the price of sugar per kg will be 102 taka.

Before this, the price of soybean oil was reduced by Tk 14 per liter in the country's market last October 3. On the 1st of this month, the Executive Officer of Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association, Nurul Islam Molla, wrote to the Ministry of Commerce to increase the price by 15 taka per liter again.

He mentioned in the letter, due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the international market and the abnormal depreciation of the rupee against the dollar, the members of the organization have proposed to increase the price of bottled soybean oil to Tk 193 per liter.
