Member of Parliament Pankaj Devnath is exempted from all posts of Awami League


 Pankaj Debnath, Member of Parliament of Barisal-4 (Hijla-Mehendiganj) Constituency has been dismissed from all posts of Awami League due to violation of party discipline. This decision was informed in a letter signed by the party's central office secretary Biplab Barua.

The letter was sent to Barisal District Awami League President, Member of Parliament, Abul Hasanat Abdullah and General Secretary Talukdar on Monday afternoon. sent to Yunus.

In this regard, Member of Parliament Pankaj Debnath told CTG POST NEWS , 'I have received a letter regarding this from the central office. There is not much to say about this at the moment.'

The letter says, 'The Executive Council of Awami League has dismissed you from the post of member of the advisory council of Barisal district branch of Awami League on the charge of breaking the institutional order in accordance with the constitution of the organization. Your written reply on the above matter is requested to be submitted to the central office department within the next 15 days as per the organizational instructions.

According to party sources, there has been a conflict between two parties of Awami League in Barisal's Mehendiganj upazila for a long time. There are frequent chases and clashes about this. Due to this, several murders occurred during the last Union Parishad (UP) elections. Upazila Awami League President Maidul Islam and General Secretary Municipal Mayor Kamal Khan are on one side of the two parties. The party is supported by the district Awami League. On the other side is local MP Pankaj Debnath.

According to sources, on August 28, one of the disputants of Mehendiganj Upazila Awami League entered the emergency department of the hospital and beat and stabbed another party. At this time, six leaders and workers of Jubo League and Chhatra League were cut and injured. Four of the injured leaders and activists were sent to Barisal for better treatment. The injured leaders and workers are followers of the president and general secretary of Upazila Awami League. On the other hand, the accused persons in the incident are followers of Parliamentarian Pankaj Debnath.

District Awami League General Secretary Talukdar said about the exemption. Yunus told  that they have received a letter today expunging Member of Parliament Pankaj Debnath from all party posts. He said that in the last four years Pankaj Debnath has been killing, torturing, paralyzing the party leaders and workers, harassing them in false cases and carrying out various kinds of atrocities against the local leaders by dividing the party in Mehendiganj and creating his own circle to establish his authority. In view of these incidents, the Central Executive Committee has taken this decision.
