So far 61 bodies have been recovered from boat sinking in Karatoa, 19 are missing


The death toll has risen to 61 in the boat capsizing incident in the Karatoa river in Panchagarh's Boda upazila. Apart from this, 19 people are still missing in the list made according to the demands of the relatives. On the third day of the accident, three diving teams from Rangpur, Rajshahi and Kurigram of the fire service are working to rescue the missing.

Panchagarh Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and Head of Investigation Committee Dipankar Roy confirmed this  from the information center opened in Mariya Bamanhat Union Parishad (UP) of the upazila at around 12 noon today.

Earlier, the Panchagarh district administration had confirmed the death of 50 people till 10 o'clock on Monday night. After this, 11 dead bodies were recovered from late night till 12 noon today. They are Shailbala (51), Sneka Rani (55), Harikishore (45), Shiltu Barman (32), Mohen Chandra (30), Vrooka Roy Pooja (15), Ankhi Rani (15), Sumi Rani (38), Palash Chandra (15), Dhrithi Rani (10) and Sajib Roy (10). The bodies were recovered from Marea Aulia Ghat, Debiganj Karatoa Bridge and Khansama Bridge area of ​​Dinajpur.

Last Sunday around 1.30 pm, a boat capsized in Karatoa river in Auliar Ghat area of ​​Mariya Bamanhat Union of Boda Upazila of Panchagarh.
