A patient died after falling from the ninth floor while boarding the lift of the National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital in Mohakhali, capital. Police recovered his body two days after the accident. Police confirmed this information on Saturday (September 17) around 9:30 pm.

OC of Banani police station in the capital Nur Azam Mia said that the deceased's name is Md. Kalam Bepari.

His house is in Gerakul village of Gournadi upazila of Barisal. The victim's son Riyad Bepari filed a wrongful death case at Banani police station.

The doctor of that hospital advised the patient Kalam Bepari to be admitted there on August 29. He was supposed to undergo stomach surgery on Sunday. Yesterday the relatives went to the hospital and did not find him in bed.

People around the ward said that he went out last Thursday morning. He did not return after that. Then the victim's family asked for the help of the police. Later, the police went and recovered the CCTV footage of the hospital.

The footage shows him pressing the elevator button on the ninth floor to go down on Thursday morning. When the elevator came, he opened the door and fell down.

After the legal process, the body has been sent to the capital's Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
