Two trains face each other due to mistake of signal
Two trains on the same line come face to face at Kishoreganj railway station. However, major accidents can be avoided by the skill of the driver. The railway authority has temporarily suspended the assistant stationmaster and pointsman in this incident.
According to Kishoreganj Railway and local sources, the 'Kishorganj Express' train was standing on line number one of Kishoreganj railway station to leave for Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. At this time, the Mymensingh-bound 'Vijay Express' train from Chittagong arrived on the same line. This resulted in a head-on collision between two trains. At this time, the driver of Mymensingh-bound Vijay Express was able to stop the train efficiently. As a result, two trains were saved from a major accident. At this time panic spread between the passengers of the two trains. Later the Mymensingh bound Vijay Express train took back to line number two of the station. After about 40 minutes the two trains left Kishoreganj station for their respective destinations.
Stationmaster Yusuf of Kishoreganj railway station confirmed the fact of the incident and said that due to signal error, two trains came face to face on the same line. Because of this, Assistant Stationmaster Imam Hossain and Pointsman Shakeel Mia have been temporarily suspended on charges of neglect of duty.
He also said that an investigation committee consisting of three senior railway officials has been formed in this incident. The members of the investigation committee have already conducted an on-site investigation.
