Inter sent Barcelona to the last sixteen

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said he will watch the San Siro match. Could not see! Who likes goodbye after handing fate over to others!

Barcelona left their fortunes in the hands of other teams after winning just 1 of their first 4 matches in Group C in the Champions League. So Xavi was looking at the Inter Milan-Viktoria Plzen match today at the San Siro. His prayers did not work.

Barca had to withdraw from the Champions League group stage as Plzen lost 4-0 to Inter. Xavi's team was relegated to the Europa League for the second time in a row. What's more, Barca will face Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou with the desire to see Inter reach the last sixteen.

Bayern tops the table with 12 points from 4 matches until the Inter-Plzen match. Inter 2 with 10 points in 5 matches. Barca collected 4 points in 4 matches, 1 win and 1 draw. Even if Inter lose the last match and Barca win the last two matches, the Italian club will reach the last sixteen as they are ahead head to head. After a 1-0 home win against Barca, Inter drew 3-3 at Camp Nou.

Inter went into the break leading 2-0 in the first half of the match at the San Siro. Barca's hopes of reaching the last sixteen soon began to fade. Edin Dzeko doubled the lead 7 minutes after Henrikh Mkhitaryan's goal in the 35th minute. Dzeko's second goal in the 66th minute almost got Inter a ticket to the last sixteen. Substitute Romelu Lukaku scored in the 87th minute to hand the ticket to the 'Nerazzurri' fans!
