The protests surrounding the death of Masha Amini in the custody of the Iranian police have been growing steadily in the country. The country's government is being strict in suppressing these protests. Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based human rights group, said at least 92 people have been killed in the protests that have lasted for almost two weeks.

The news agency Reuters reported this information in a report.

Kurdish woman Masha Amini (22) was detained for breaking the law, the country's police said. Then Amini suddenly collapsed due to heart failure in the detention center. But his family rejected the police's claim, saying Niti police officers beat him up. Amini died after three days in a coma in the hospital.

His death sparked widespread protests across Iran. People took to the streets to oppose the Hijab law and chant slogans demanding women's rights. This is the country's biggest anti-government protest since protests against fuel price hikes in 2019.

Protests continue despite the death toll rising amid a harsh crackdown by authorities. Videos posted on Twitter showed protesters calling for the fall of the mullahs in the capital Tehran, Qom, Rasht, Sanandaj, Masjid-e-Suleiman and other cities.

State television reports said a large number of "rioters" had been arrested, but gave no further details. Rights groups say many activists, students and artists have been arrested. Apart from this, journalists have also been arrested by the country's security forces.
