There are hundreds of independent farmers in Latiraj

Few villages of Mirsarai Upazila have been famous for decades for their reputation. This year too, there has been a large harvest in various villages including Kachua village of the upazila. Only half a hundred farmers in Kachua village of Moghadiya Union number 11 have become millionaires by cultivating Latiraj national kachu.
Saiful Islam, a farmer of Moghadiya village, said that he cultivated kachu in some lands of the village. About twenty thousand rupees have been spent on the cultivation and care of each piece of land. Lakhs of taka have been earned after the sale of kachu and kachur lathi. He cultivates more or less kachu every year.
Another farmer, Didarul Alam, said that about 50 other farmers in the same village have become millionaires by cultivating kachu. Besides, hundreds of farmers of the entire upazila including Haitkandi, Mithanala, Katachra, Durgapur, Ochmanpur, Hinguli have benefited by cultivating kachu and kachur lati. Farmers Bhadra-Ashwin are busy for two months with picking and selling kachu. Farmers spend their busy time in kachu farming villages, cutting kachu, cleaning, picking up vines, making rows of flour. After making the dough, it goes to the highway market by CNG or van. After sale, this vegetable product known as Mirsarayya Kachu is going to different districts including Dhaka, Chittagong in trucks of wholesalers. Mosharraf Hossain of Molyaish village said that each kachu is being sold at 30-40 taka wholesale. Everyone is happy because the yield is good this year like every year.
In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Supervisor Kazi Nurul Alam said that many areas of Mirsarai are suitable for seasonal kachu cultivation during monsoon. Recently, farmers are benefiting from the cultivation of different varieties of kachur. Meanwhile, at the local level, besides the desi kachu, farmers are getting more benefits from a kachu called Latiraj. It is now called farmer-friendly as lati also grows well in this kachu. We are ready to provide all kinds of support to everyone in its cultivation.
Incidentally, Latiraj Kachu is a popular vegetable in the country. At present, to meet the needs of the country, its leaves are being exported abroad. Latiraj kachu has a lot of nutrients. In terms of production, there is a lot of space after Mukhikochur.
