Tigers start the 'Bangla Wash' series with a loss

The Tigers started the 'Bangla Wash International T20 tri-series' with a defeat against Pakistan. Bangladesh lost by 21 runs in Christchurch on Friday. Bangladesh was able to score 146 runs for 8 wickets while playing the target of 168 runs given by Pakistan.

Bangladesh lost two openers Mehdi Hasan Miraj (10) and Sabbir Rahman (14) within the team's 37 runs chasing runs. Then Liton Das and Afif Hossain made a pair of 50 runs. Lytton played an innings of 35 runs off 26 balls. Mosaddek Hossain hit the 'golden duck' after Liton's departure. Afif Hossain also returned to Sajghar before the team reached 100 runs. He scored 25 runs off 23 balls.

Nurul Hasan Sohan, who was captained by Shakib Al Hasan, could not take advantage either, returning with 8 runs. At the end, Yasir Ali Rabi's unbeaten 42 off 21 balls helped Bangladesh reach 146 runs.

Pakistan's Mohammad Wasim Jr took three wickets for 24 runs. Mohammad Nawaz got two wickets. Apart from this, Shahnewaz Dahani, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan took one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan lost the toss and elected to bat. Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeaten innings of 78 runs off 50 balls. Shan Masood scored 31 off 22 balls. 22 runs came from the bat of captain Babar Azam. Taskin Ahmed took two wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed and Mehdi Hasan Miraj got one wicket each. Mustafizur Rahman wicketless with 48 runs in 4 overs. Rizwan became the man of the match.
