What was known about the BCL conference

The politics of the country has become active ahead of the 12th National Parliament elections. The 22nd National Conference of the ruling party Awami League is going to be held on December 24. At the same time, the party has also taken the initiative to hold a conference of Chhatra League and other allied organizations. Party president Sheikh Hasina has also instructed general secretary Obaidul Quader in this regard.
Several responsible leaders of the party told the media that these decisions were taken at the Awami League central executive meeting held at Ganobhaban on Friday (October 28) afternoon.
It is known that the 30th Central Conference of Chhatra League may be held in January next year. And by December Awami Mahila League and Jubo Mahila League will have a conference. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader is expected to announce the date in a press conference in this regard on October 30.
According to the Constitution of the BCL, the Central BCL Conference will be held every two years. Accordingly, the term of the current committee has expired on July 31, 2021.
Earlier, the 29th Central Conference of the Chhatra League was held in May 2018. Through this, Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shobhan was elected president of BCL and Golam Rabbani became general secretary. However, after just one year, they were removed from the leadership on charges of irregularities and extortion. Then as per the constitution, number one vice president Al Nahyan Khan Joy was given the duty of acting president and number one joint general secretary Ukar Bhattacharya was given the duty of acting general secretary. Later on January 4, 2020, on the foundation anniversary of Chhatra League, Joy and the author were made president and general secretary.
However, even though new leadership was brought in, the controversy over BCL did not end. A section of the organization has been demanding new leadership for several days. Their demand is expected to be fulfilled through the next conference.
