Google will warn only if there is an Earthquake
Google has launched the Android Earthquake Alert system in Bangladesh like some other countries to warn users during earthquakes. The facility will be available free of charge on the updated Android operating system-powered smartphones from today Tuesday.
Google first launched this facility in the United States in 2020. The Android Earthquake Alert System was gradually rolled out in New Zealand, Greece, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Google said this information in a press release today.
The Android Earthquake Alert System sends earthquake alerts by basically analyzing the surface vibrations. In addition to informing about the source and magnitude of earthquakes, it also provides advice on how to stay safe. As a result, from now on, if there is an earthquake in Bangladesh, Google will warn users as well as tell them how to stay safe.
If you want to use the Android Earthquake Alert System, you can get detailed information about earthquakes in Bangladesh online. If you search by typing 'earthquake' or 'earthquake near me' in Google search, you can know whether there has been an earthquake in Bangladesh recently or not. Not only that, the origin and distance of the earthquake will also be known.
Google primarily uses the accelerometer sensor facility in users' Android smartphones to collect earthquake data. This is because accelerometers can detect initial 'P' waves or surface vibrations as earthquakes occur. If the Android Earthquake alert system is on, the smartphone will send information to Google's servers when the ground tremors are detected.
After analyzing the data sent from various smartphones, Google sends warnings to the users called 'Be aware' and 'Take action' after understanding the magnitude of the earthquake. Usually, a 'be aware' message is sent when there is an earthquake of magnitude 4.5. At this time, Google gives various advices to stay safe in addition to providing information about the possible origin of the earthquake.
A 'take action' message is sent when the magnitude of an earthquake is greater than 4.5 on the Richter scale. At this time, the user's smartphone will automatically sound an alarm or warning.
To activate the Android Earthquake Alert System, first enter the smartphone settings and select the location option. Now click on Advanced option and select Earthquake Alert.
