Many voters are unable to accept the results of the Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituency by-election. They are demanding to cancel the results and re-vote. On Friday, Kahalu and Nandigram upazilas, talking to people of different classes and professions, received such responses.

In this Wednesday's by-election, the discussed independent candidate Ashraful Hossain aka Hero Alom lost to Grand Alliance candidate AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen by only 834 votes. Hero Alom is visiting different areas of Nandigram upazila this Saturday morning to comfort the angry and disappointed voters. Earlier yesterday, throughout the day, he consoled the general voters by mass communication in different areas of Kahalu Upazila. At that time, many voters expressed their anger to Hero Alom.

Ansar Ali Sardar, a voter of Kahalu Upazila's Muril Bazar, told media, 'In this election, not even 1 percent of votes were counted. Let's all go to the center for Hero Alom, let's vote together. In one center, others did not even get 10-15 votes. Let's all vote for Hero Alom en masse. Where did the vote go? Hero Alom was defeated by two numbers in EVM. We do not accept these two numbers. Hero Alome Hamakere MP (Member of Parliament).'

Agreeing with the words of Ansar Ali, another voter of Muril village, Shahidul Islam, said, 'There is a lot of trouble. If you like to vote in the center, fake vote. That vote was stolen. Don't go to the voting center again in life.'

After the defeat in the elections, Hero Alom complained that the results of the polls were manipulated even though the polling was fair. Similar allegations were found in the speeches of the voters of Kahalu Upazila.

However, Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana commented that this allegation of changing the result is baseless. Meanwhile, challenging the comments of the Election Commissioner, Hero Alom said yesterday, 'I challenge you, hold a referendum if you have confidence. People will prove everything.' Several voters welcomed Hero Alom's referendum proposal while talking to local people yesterday.

Hero Alom went out to meet the voters for the second day this morning. He is comforting voters by visiting different areas of Nandigram upazila since morning. Hero Alom said to the voters that fair and acceptable elections are not possible under the party government. The Election Commission is subordinate to the government. The by-elections proved that the Election Commission has no power to do anything outside the government.

Hero Alom criticizes EVM voting, many countries around the world have thrown EVMs into the dustbin. But the Awami League government is playing a farce in the name of election by collecting these EVMs to rig the vote. These EVMs should be thrown in the dustbin.

According to the privately announced results, a total of 78 thousand 524 valid votes were cast in 112 centers of Kahalu and Nandigram upazilas. AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen won privately by getting 20 thousand 405 votes. His closest rival Hero Alom got 19,571 votes.
