13 crore ice-yaba recovered in Teknaf
BGB's Teknaf Battalion recovered 2.120 kg of crystal meth ice and 80 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets worth Tk 13.5 crore in two raids.
According to a press release of BGB on Saturday (October 8), a border security patrol of Kharankhali BOP under BGB's Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) at 1:40 p.m., approximately 200 yards to the north of BRM-15, conducted regular patrols in an area of four and a half kilometers north of BRM-15. The patrol was conducting operations.
At that time the patrol saw two persons crossing the river Naf towards the embankment and suspecting their movement, the patrol challenged them and quickly advanced towards them.
When they sensed the presence of the BGB patrol, they left a bag they were carrying and swam away quickly into the interior of Myanmar.
After searching there, BGB recovered a plastic bag left by the smugglers. 2.120 kg crystal meth ice and 30 thousand Yaba tablets were seized from inside the bag.
Meanwhile, at 5:30 am on Saturday morning, while carrying out regular search at Hoikang check post under Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB), the BGB members on duty signaled to stop when an easy bike came near the check post.
The driver of the easybike tried to move forward quickly, ignoring the signal. When the duty patrol chased the easybike, at one point the driver jumped from the easybike and ran away towards the nearby village and the easybike lost control and fell into the paddy field on the roadside.
The patrol searched the Easybike and recovered a plastic bag from under the seat. 50 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets were seized from inside the bag. Easybike was also impounded for illegally carrying drugs.
