Liberation War Affairs Minister A. thinks that internet services should be stopped after 12 o'clock at night. A. Mozammel Haque.
He thinks that this should be done to stop students from using the internet at night.
His suggestion is to save the nation from being incompetent, but he said that there can be special arrangements for those who do business with foreign countries.
At the same time, this minister feels that if 'falsehood and propaganda' through technology is not under control, it will be very difficult to live healthy politics or healthy life in the country.
He said these things in a discussion meeting on the occasion of the 74th founding anniversary of Dhaka University Alumni Association at Dhaka University's TSC on Saturday (October 8) afternoon.
He said, “The way we focus on mobile while leaving education is alarming for the nation. I think, in the future, the nation will become demented. The government may have a recommendation that the internet should be shut down after 12 pm. There may be special provisions for those doing business with foreign countries.”
Urging to increase research in universities, the minister said, "If there is no research, there will be a talent crisis in the future. Nowadays, because of technology, especially mobiles, our children are now on them till 12 am, 1 am, 2 am. The way we used to go to the library in our time, the education initiatives that existed, are no longer there. Of course connectivity or technology is needed but everything needs to have a dimension.…How lies, disinformation is spread through all these devices. If these are not controlled, it will be very difficult to have healthy politics or healthy life in this country.”
Dhaka University Alumni Association's 74th founding anniversary was inaugurated by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Akhtaruzzaman. A cultural program was performed in the evening after the discussion meeting.
