the 16 people killed in road accidents in Algeria.
Besides, three people were seriously injured in this accident.
Turkish media TRT World reported that 16 passengers were
killed and three others injured in a collision between two pickup trucks in
southern Algeria. Most of the casualties were sub-Saharan Africans, rescue
services and local media said.
The fatal accident occurred on a highway in the south of the
Algerian desert on Monday, the country's civil protection agency said in a post
on social media.
Local media said the accident happened in Algeria's
southwestern region of Regen and Bordj Badji Mokhtar.
The Algerian government's road safety agency blames the speed of both private car drivers and public transport for the country's high accident rate. More than seven thousand traffic accidents were recorded in this North African country in 2021.
