BNP Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Amanullah Aman speaking to reporters after leaving DMP Commissioner's office

BNP wants to hold a divisional rally in Dhaka on December 10 in front of the party office in Nayapaltan of the capital. On Tuesday, some leaders of the party went to the office of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq seeking permission to hold the rally. After returning from there, the BNP leaders informed the matter.

BNP leaders went to the DMP Commissioner's office at Minto Road at 10 am. Among them were Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Amanullah Aman, Central Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam, Publicity Secretary and Member Secretary of BNP Media Cell Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anyi, BNP Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Member Secretary Aminul Haque, Rafiqul Alam Majnu and some others.

After leaving there, Amanullah said, 'BNP had a peaceful rally in six divisional cities. Dhaka Divisional Assembly will be held in Dhaka on December 10. We have sought permission for that gathering. They said, they will discuss it and tell us.'

In response to the question where did he ask for permission, Amanullah said, 'We have sent a letter from our office. We sought permission in front of BNP central office in Paltan. We have held rallies here before. We have said that the rally will be peaceful. We have said in the letter that they will look into the matter of security.'

Highlighting the situation of the previous rallies, Amanullah said, 'You have seen that all transport, including all buses, has been stopped in Chittagong. After this, the same was done in five more divisional assemblies. We said, such transport cannot be stopped. I requested them to look into this matter. Those who come to our assembly should not face any obstacles. No attack should be made on them.'

Amanullah said, 'We told the commissioner, you are not the commissioner of Awami League, not the commissioner of BNP, you are the commissioner of the government. You are a government official. Keeping this in mind you will do your duty. From our side, we will provide all kinds of cooperation.'

Amanullah said that the issue of arrest of BNP leaders and workers was also brought up to the DMP Commissioner today.

BNP organizing secretary Abdus Salam said in front of the journalists, 'We have sought permission to hold a rally in front of our party office. They said, is there any alternative proposal or not? We said, we will talk to our central leaders. Considering various aspects, we wanted to hold a rally in front of the party office. As the government party moves towards fascism, it is blocking various places. So if we hold a rally in front of our party office, the ruling party will not be able to create any chaos.'
