Polling is going on in Karnaphuli and Phatikchari



Voting is going on in Chittagong's Karnaphuli Upazila Parishad and Fatikchari Municipal Elections. Voting through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) started from 8 am on Wednesday (November 2) and continued till 4 pm.
Two hours have passed since the start of polling, but no untoward incident has been reported anywhere. Voters are voting for their preferred candidate in a festive atmosphere.

According to the representative of Karnaphuli, polling started at 8 am in the upazila parishad elections. Voting is taking place through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) which will continue till 4 pm.
The Election Commission completed all the formal preparations for the polling on the previous day on Tuesday. Outsiders have already been ordered to leave the constituency. Adequate number of law enforcement personnel deployed in constituencies; Ansar, BGB, Police, RAB have taken four levels of security.
It is known that 1 lakh 16 thousand 572 voters will get the opportunity to vote till 4 pm. Two candidates are contesting for the post of chairman and 6 candidates for the post of vice chairman and female vice chairman.
Executive Magistrate Piyush Kumar Chowdhury said that voting is taking place in EVM in this upazila. Police and Ansar VDP members are deployed in each center to make the election free, fair and impartial. No untoward incidents have occurred so far.
He also said that 5 platoons of BGB have been deployed along with members of law and order forces under the leadership of 4 executive magistrates.
According to Fatikchari representative, polling is going on simultaneously in 19 polling stations in municipal elections. Salma Begum and Arifa Akhtar, who came to vote there, said that they are voting by standing in line without any hindrance.
It is known that four ASPs under the leadership of a Superintendent of Police will supervise law and order in the constituency. 31 OCs will be on full-time duty in 19 polling stations, besides two platoons of BGB and sufficient number of RAB members will be deployed as striking force.
According to upazila election office sources, 3 judicial magistrates and 9 executive magistrates are also working by dividing the electoral region into two zones.
36 thousand 246 voters will exercise their right to vote through the Electric Voting Machine (EVM) in the Fatikchari municipal elections to be held for the third time. In particular, due to the installation of CCTV cameras in EVMs and centers, a lot of interest is being noticed among the voters.
Chittagong District Senior Election Officer Jahangir Alam said that all preparations have been completed to ensure free, fair and impartial elections on behalf of the Election Commission (EC). Outsiders have already been ordered to leave the constituency. Adequate number of law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the constituencies.
