Prime Minister asked for oil from Saudi Arabia


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought oil from Saudi Arabia on condition of delayed payment. Deputy Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia. Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al Dawood said this during a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban on Sunday morning. After the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters that Sheikh Hasina has sought Saudi Arabia's help in solving the Rohingya crisis. In the meeting, both the leaders discussed various issues of mutual interest.

The Saudi deputy minister raised the issue of Bangladeshi passports expiring. He proposed to form a joint working group on passport renewal. The Prime Minister gave his consent in this regard and asked the authorities concerned to take necessary action. The Saudi Deputy Minister praised the miraculous development of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister. He congratulated the Prime Minister on the golden jubilee of the country's independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince and Saudi Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

He said the economic progress of many countries has stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Dr. Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al Dawood congratulated Sheikh Hasina for providing multilateral support to Saudi Arabia at Expo 2030.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin, Chief Secretary Dr. Ahmad Kaykaus, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Javed Patwari and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Essa Yusuf Essa Alduhailan were present.
